Car targeted on busy night for fire crews

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with three arson attacks across the borough last night.

Rubbish was deliberately set on fire on Far Lane, East Dene at 8.10pm and a crew from Rotherham station was at the scene for 15 minutes.

An abandoned mattress propped up against a tree was set alight on Fenton Road, Kimberworth Park.

Rotherham station attended the fire to find the mattress and tree well alight at 10.40pm and left 30 minutes later.

A Vauxhall Astra was also torched by arsonists on Cranswick Way, Conisbrough at 10.45pm.

A crew from Edlington station brought the blaze under control and left the scene at 11.10pm.
