Burglary victim posts own CCTV footage in attempt to catch culprit

A BRASSED off burglary victim has posted CCTV footage of a masked man allegedly stealing items from his home.

As investigating officers appealed for help from the public to trace the man wanted in connection with a theft from a property in Old Road, Conisbrough, last Friday (11), footage was posted on YouTube in an effort to help snare the alleged culprit.

The CCTV video shows a man entering a property through a patio door and emerging with a white object which is then dropped over a garden fence.

The man is seen removing his face mask as he emerges from the building.

Issuing the official appeal to trace the man wanted in connection with the burglary on Old Road, a police spokeswoman said: “Police believe that the man shown may be able to assist with the investigation.

“He is thought to be between 18 to 35 years old, around 6 ft tall, of slim build and clean-shaven. He is described as having a prominent nose and large ears.”

Police confirmed that a car ignition key, a laptop and a safe were stolen in the raid on Old Road which occurred at around 8.15am on October 11.

Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV footage should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 538 of October 8.
