Burglars target charity box in raid

BURGLARS stole charity boxes and £2,000 cash from the till as they targeted a town centre shop.

Police said thieves was forced to Card Factory on College Street and raided the till before taking the Macmillan Cancer Support charity box and other charity tins.

The incident at the Card Factory happened between 8pm on Sunday and 7.50am on Monday.

A Card Factory representative said no staff had been working at the time of the burglary.

The shop forced to close for a few hours on Monday morning but reopened later.
