Bogus salesman steals £100 from pensioner

POLICE are appealing for help catching a “gaunt-looking” bogus salesman who stole £100 from a pensioner.

The conman called at a house on Wortley Avenue, Conisbrough at around 11.30am on Tuesday, offering household goods for sale.

An 89-year-old woman invited him inside — once he left she realised that money and a pension book holder were missing from her purse.

Police have described the thief as “white, skinny and gaunt-looking”.

He is thought to be around 30 years old and was wearing a black jacket and trousers, carrying a black holdall.

Officers urge anyone who might have seen the man or anyone with information to call non-emergency number 101 and quote incident number 371 of January 7.
