Arsonists torch former football changing rooms

A FORMER changing room block at a football club was torched by arsonists.

The building, on Pleasley Road in Whiston, was ablaze by the time a crew from Rotherham fire station arrived on the scene where they spent an hour bringing it under control.

They were called out at 3.30am.

No-one was injured in the incident.

South Yorkshire Police said it believed the fire was started deliberately and that anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident 123 of July 6.

There were initial concerns that the blaze had occurred in the nearby cricket pavilion owned by Whiston Forge Cricket Club but this building was unaffected.
