Appeal for information about getaway car after Thurnscoe woman (71) targeted by thieves

POLICE investigating an incident where a pensioner was hit by her own vehicle as it was targeted by would-be thieves are appealing for information about the getaway car.

South Yorkshire Police said the woman (71) had just returned to St Helens Close in Thurnscoe shortly before 8.10pm last Wednesday when the attack took place.

A spokesperson said: “The vehicle collided with the woman before being abandoned by the offenders. The woman suffered significant injuries and remains in hospital receiving treatment.”

The red Ford Focus was found abandoned with false number plates in Thurnscoe on Saturday. 

Police have appealed for anyone who may have seen it at the time of the incident or in the days after to come forward.
