Crews tackle fires ‘started deliberately’

FIREFIGHTERS attended several small fires overnight, all thought to have been set deliberately.

One crew from Aston station tackled a tree fire on Alison Drive, Swallownest at around 7.55pm.

They used a water backpack to put out the blaze, leaving the scene 8.15pm.

Rotherham station attended burning rubbish on Harrison Street, Holmes at around 10pm.

They left around 20 minutes later after putting the fire out with a hose reel.

Another crew fought a rubbish fire on Churchill Avenue, Maltby at around 6.45am today, coming away around 15 minutes later.
