Fly-tipper hit with large court bill - and just 30 days to pay
A CARELESS fly-tipper has been stung with a £1,430 court bill after leaving incriminating evidence behind while dumping rubbish.
It has taken around eight months to bring the Swinton offender to justice, but he faced his day in court, charged under the Environment Act 1995.

He was found responsible for the tipping, even though he ran a company which apparently had a legitimate waste disposal licence.
South Yorkshire Police’s Rotherham North neighbourhood policing team said the prosecution stemmed from an incident on Monday June 30 last year, where a large fly-tipping incident was reported in a field off Flanderwell Lane, in Dalton.
In a statement, the team said: “An enforcement officer from Rotherham Council attended the site to investigate.
“He found evidence within the waste relating to an address in Rotherham which was later linked to a company being operated by a male in Swinton, Rotherham.”
Following an investigation, a prosecution took place at Sheffield Magistrates Court.
The offender - who was a waste licence holder - failed to appear, but the case was found proved in his absence.
The total charges imposed by the court was £1,430 and the Swinton man was given 30 days to settle the bill, or face further action.
Police have advised that people paying to have waste taken away use legitimate companies and check their documentation, to ensure they have a valid permit to carry waste.
The offender in this case has not been identified, but was said by police to have a licence, choosing to dump the rubbish instead.
