A SOUP kitchen surgery benefiting community groups has been set up by three Rotherham borough councillors.

Dinnington councillors Simon Tweed, Jane Havenhand and Jacqui Falvey will be serving refreshments at the town’s Resource Centre from 11am tomorrow.

They hope that the informal sessions—following the usual ward surgery at the Lyric Theatre at 10am—will encourage residents to get to know their councillors and how they can help them.

Cllr Tweed said: “The idea is to get people talking to us and to each other. They will be able to pop in for a bowl of soup, and any profits will be divided among local groups.

“The three of us will be head cooks and bottle washers.”

The soup kitchens will take place at the Laughton Road centre on every third Saturday in the month.
