Conisbrough pub raises bar and toasts a triumph

A CONISBROUGH watering hole was recently voted top pub at an Oscars-themed awards night.

The Lord Conyers was presented with the overall Best Bar None winners award 2014 as well as the best community pub, western Doncaster area.

The Doncaster Council annual event, now in its eighth year, rewards licensees for the safe and responsible management of their premises.

Around 400 licensees and guests attended the ceremony at Doncaster Dome.

Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones said: “Our licensees are among the best in the country and this year, the standard was higher than ever.

“Well done to all those nominated and particularly to all those who received awards.

“We are so proud of the excellent standards we continue to promote in this industry across our town.”

A raffle and casino on the night raised £2,325 which will be shared among the borough’s Aurora Well-being Centres — including at Mexborough Montagu Hospital.
