Community group grants up for grabs

COMMUNITY groups can get their hands on thousands of pounds funded by the new 5p charge for plastic carrier bags.

Greggs Foundation has launched an environmental fund from the 5p levy to improve people’s lives by boosting their environments.

There are two grant programmes – small grants of up to £2,500 and large grants of up to £10,000.

The company is looking for applications from groups with an income below £300,000, and schools can also apply for funding.

Preference will be given to projects that support disadvantaged people.

The deadline for applications is March 4, but that date may be earlier if there are a lot of applications.
