Community awards shortlist announced

UNSUNG volunteering from across the borough were thrust into the spotlight as preparations continue to celebrate their hours of tireless dedication.

The Community Achievement Awards will be dished out at the Carlton Park Hotel on November 18, but Voluntary Action Rotherham gathered this year’s nominess together to celebrate them reaching the shortlist.

Three awards are up for grabs - Project, Volunteer and Young Volunteer.

Shortlisted for Project are Brampton United Junior Football Club, the Lifewise Volunteer Team and Rotherham Military Community Veterans Centre (MCVC) .

Up in the Volunteer category are SAFE@LAST volunteer ambassador Pippa Harder, veteran experienced volunteer Ted Ring and Felicity Yau, who supports classes in English for Chinese women and arts and crafts, woodwork and DIY sessions.

The Young Volunteer candidates are Rotherham Youth Cabinet members Emilia Ashton, Danny-Lee Gillings and Jake Vickers, Healthwatch Rotherham’s Young Ambassador\!q Georgia Pell and Junior Chamber International volunteer Ryan Pilkington.
