And more than 200 such manuals will be made available at £2 each in a one off sale starting at 9am next Monday at Rotherham Central Library.

The sale is expected to attract collectors as well as owners, as it has real rarities such as the manual for the original 1948 Land Rover in its first year of production and details of the Russian ambassador's limousine from the 1960s, known as the Moskvitch.

The library has commissioned the sale of the manuals because of a lack of space, along with a decline in demand for them.
