Caught in the act . . . Rotherham arsonist torches car: VIDEO

AN ARSONIST is captured on CCTV which shows the dramatic moment he set alight a pensioner’s car.

Footage shows a man approach the vehicle from the front and spray an unknown substance on the windscreen and bonnet.

The man, described as white and stocky with fair brown hair, is seen running off from Norwood Crescent, Kiveton Park, after the Vauxhall Meriva catches fire.

It happened at 2.50am on November 15 and detectives have linked the attack to two others during 2012.

A silver Vauxhall Zafira belonging to the same 71-year-old man was set alight in September,

Reports of a further arson in July at the home of the victim’s daughter are also being looked into.

The property was set alight by what detectives believe was an accelerant on the door to the property.

Police are appealing to the public to help them with their enquiries.
