Burglars target empty homes

BURGLARS broke into three unoccupied homes in Wickersley — including two on the same street.

Two properties on Moorlands Road were broken into in incidents on October 27 and November 10 and a third home Melciss Road was targeted on Wednesday, November 16.

The Moorlands Road burglaries took place at around 6.45pm on October 27 and around 10am on November 10.

Burglars then broke into the property on Melciss Road at around 6.30pm on November 16.

All of the burglaries happened while the properties were empty and police are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch.

Investigating constable Thomas Jordan, said: “We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry but I would like to speak to anyone who has any information about the burglaries.

“I would also like to urge everyone to be extra vigilant and ensure all doors and windows are locked when you leave your homes, lights are turned on during dark nights and alarms are used where possible.”
