Bungalow fire, stray fireworks and arson attack

THE cause of a bungalow fire which had to be tackled by four crews is under investigation.

The incident occurred at 4.30pm on Saturday (November 5) at a home on Hayfield Walk, Kimberworth Park.

The occupants were not home at the time, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said, and the crews were at the scene for an hour.

Firefighters in Rotherham also dealt with two blazes caused by stray fireworks over Bonfire Night weekend.

The first was on Friday on Broom Lane, Herringthorpe, at 7.30pm when a firework set alight to a shed.

A crew from Rotherham station attended the incident for 20 minutes.

A wooden play house in a garden of a property on Hatfield Grove, Laughton Common, was also set alight by a stray banger.

Aston Park station brought the fire under control within 20 minutes.

An outbuilding and trees were accidentally set on fire on Marlowe Road, Herringthorpe, at 1.25am on Sunday morning.   

Rotherham station was at the scene for 30 minutes.

Arsonists torched a Ford Focus on Newhall Lane, Maltby, at 9.50pm on Sunday morning. 

Maltby station firefighters were at the scene for 45 minutes.
