Brian Blessed is Gallery Town star

ACTOR Brian Blessed and wildlife artist Pollyanna Pickering are the latest stars of Rotherham’s Gallery Town display.

The Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Maggi Clark, unveiled new welcome signs at Rotherham Central station on Friday.

Cool Waters, Pollyanna’s illustration of a tiger enjoying a swim, features alongside a portrait of project backer, charity patron and former Rotherham College student Brian by Nepalese artist Manish Harijan.

The new Welcome to Rotherham, Welcome to Gallery Town signs, which have been designed and donated by Rotherham-based business Idea UK, also feature a piece by internationally acclaimed French hyperrealist Jean-Marc Janiaczyk and a creation of Maria Williams, a former Rotherham College student.

These works of art can be seen reproduced on a large scale across Rotherham town centre from November 17.
