Brethren's school plans put on ice

PLANS for a new school and gospel hall have been put on hold after discussions with council officials sent school bosses back to the drawing board.

A planning application for the scheme, earmarked for land off Todwick Road in North Anston, was submitted by applicants Elsworth Acres to Rotherham Borough Council in November last year.

The new school building is aimed at being the new home for Elsworth House School, a school run by the Brethren community and currently based in an industrial unit in Hellaby.

The school is understood to be keen to move to new premises due to increased pupil numbers and a desire to achieve free school status.

But the plans have now been held back after council planners raised concerns about several issues.
