Boy (16) accused of Rawmarsh park rape of girl (15)

A BOY accused of raping a young girl in a Rawmarsh park faces trial at crown court.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear in Sheffield on November 12.

He denies one count of rape against a 15-year-old girl and one of assault by penetration, against the same girl.

The offences are alleged to have happened at Rosehill Park on October 21.

The boy appeared at Rotherham Youth Court today.

District Judge John Foster said the offence was too grave to be tried there, sending it to the adult court for trial.

The defendant was remanded in custody.
