Body in river identified

THE body of a man found in the River Don on Tuesday, has today been formally identified as that of missing Christopher Akers.

Police searching for the 22-year-old of Castledine Gardens, Wincobank, made the discovery at 3pm on Tuesday around Meadowhall Way.  

Christopher was last heard from at 1.45am on Monday after a Hallowe’en night out in the Players sports bar on West Street, Sheffield, where he had been with friends.

He was still wearing his fancy dress outfit of a black shirt and trousers, red cape and red tie when he went missing.

Christopher's family have been informed.
