Chief Insp Nev Hamilton said: “We want to send a clear message to drivers in Rotherham to start thinking and stop drinking.
“You don’t have to appear, or even feel drunk to be over the legal limit and any amount of alcohol can have an impact on a person’s driving ability.
“This operation supports the work taking place across the force this Christmas and although Rotherham does not have a serious drink driving problem, we want to use this opportunity to engage proactively with road users and offer advice and support to those we speak to during the campaign.”
