Ben bids for stardom in national singing contest: VIDEO

ASPIRING singer Ben Hague is hoping to sing his way to success after reaching the last three of a national contest.

The 19-year-old from Swinton is one of the finalists in the Break Into competition run by careers company Monster.

Ben learned last weekend that judges including Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills and record producer Steve Foster had put him through to the final after watching his video performance of Chris Brown’s song Crawl.

He now has until Sunday to drum up enough votes via the competition website to land himself the title of champion, which would bring with it an artist development deal and the prospect of a professional recording contract.

Former Wath Comprehensive student Ben, who is taking a break from studying graphic design to follow his dream of a career in showbiz, said that he was amazed to have got so far in a contest which had attracted thousands of entries.

“I was in shock when I found out I was in the final,” he said. “It is quite sacry but also really exciting.

People can only vote once every hour so my family and friends are on there every hour giving me their support.

“I need all the support I can get so I would be really grateful to anyone who votes for me.”
