Simon Middlebrook, from the Newington-based mushroom farm owned by Tunneltech North, attended the meeting of Bawtry Town Council to update councillors and residents about the latest steps being taken to alleviate the  obnoxious smell experienced in the town and surrounding villages.

Mr Middlebrook said that the new aeration system had been put in place.

Following the work of a consultant employed by Bassetlaw District Council, a permit for the site had been updated and issued to the company.

He also mentioned that a meeting of representatives of all interested parties affected by the smell  was to be convened in the near future by the director of community services at Bassetlaw District Council.

Mr Middlebrook agreed to keep Bawtry Town Council advised about the situation.

Bawtry Town Council is encouraging townsfolk to continue to send their complaints about the smell nuisance to Bassetlaw District Council’s Environmental Health Department, telephon 01777 713741.
