Banking services still available in Goldthorpe and Bolton-on-Dearne

A DEARNE Valley group covering Goldthorpe and Bolton-on-Dearne is using a new leaflet to spread the word that residents can still access banking services on their doorstep.

Despite the banks having moved out of town, high street banking services can still be used at local post offices.

Big Local volunteer Heather Bottomley said: “We noticed that some local people are travelling to other towns to a branch of their bank to pay in cash and cheques, or to pay bills.”

A new Big Local Bank Local leaflet includes information about which high street bank services are accessible by visiting the post office.

“We got marvellous support from the Post Office Banking Division which sent a representative from London to meet us about what high street banking we can access via our own Post Office branches in Goldthorpe, Bolton and Thurnscoe,” Heather said.

“We are delighted that so many folk are finding this information helpful.

“Just check with your bank to find out what you need to do.”

The leaflet is also proving popular at local events, as well as being distributed via shops and businesses in the area.
