Aston All Saints’ pupils are on song for music department

AN ENTIRE primary school proved they were in harmony after they came together to record a 15-track album in one day.

As part of their music-themed week, 220 youngsters from Aston All Saints’ Church of England Junior and Infant School decided they wanted to record an album to sell to parents.

Year 1 teacher Anita Caltieri said the school’s orchestra and choir had been instrumental in helping to bring all the voices together.

“On the day the children were nervous, music is a big part of Aston, but they are used to performing as we do lots of school concerts, so they were excited as well,” Anita said.

“The staff also recorded a secret track, which is the last song on the album, for the children to find.”

The theme running through all the songs is seasons.

Money raised from the CD sales will be put back in to the school’s music department.

Anita added: “Music is so important to Aston because we are such a creative school.

“Sometimes music gets neglected, but we are very lucky the children join in with everything creative and they are skills for life as they can carry on with singing or playing instruments.”
