Asda promising new jobs in Parkgate move

SUPERMARKET giant Asda has announced plans this week to spend £500,000 on a second store in Rotherham, which will create nine new jobs.

The grocery chain aims to transform the former Netto store on Taylors Lane, Parkgate.

The existing Netto store will close its doors to shoppers on Saturday, July 30 and is expected to re-open on Monday, August 15 under the Asda banner.

Asda’s area manager, Chris Tilly, said: "Despite being a small Asda supermarket, we think customers are going to be delighted with the new store.

“We hope they will be bowled over by the range and there will be no price premium for anything we sell.”

Customers can expect to find Asda’s full range of own label brands, including Chosen by You, Smart Price and Extra Special.

The new supermarket will also house PayPoint, lottery and cash machines.

Regular Netto customers can expect to see familiar faces at the refurbished store as all of the existing store workers will be transferred over to the new chain after a week-long training programme.
