Armed police in hunt for murder suspect

ARMED police are on standby as 150 police officers were mobilised in the search for a Rotherham man wanted for a murder in Bridlington.

Detectives have reissued their appeal to the public for information about John Heald (53), who is wanted by Humberside Police in connection with the murder of landlady Bei Carter at a guest house in Bridlington last Friday.

He is also wanted in connection with a serious offence in Sheffield on Sunday July 13.

Humberside Police and South Yorkshire Police are conducting a joint search and officers strongly believe he is in the Rotherham area.

Potential sightings of John Heald have been reported to police in the last 48 hours in the Wath-upon-Deane, Mexborough, Rawmarsh and Swinton areas.

Police have warned the public not to approach him and to call 999 immediately.
