Appeal to fund fitting send-off for “wonderful mum”

A WOMAN who died in her sleep has been remembered as a “devoted” and “wonderful mother” to her four children.

Vicky Furniss was 36 when she was found dead in her bedroom in Woodhouse, Sheffield, on Christmas Eve.

Her sister in law, Lisa Heald, from Greasbrough, has started a fundraiser to help the family cover the “unexpected” funeral costs.

“We are all devastated,” Lisa said.

“Vicky had a bit of chest pain a couple of hours before she went to sleep on December 23, but we thought nothing of it.

“When her husband Paul tried to wake her up around 5.20am, she had sadly passed away.

“Paul tried to save her by giving her CPR for over half an hour until the ambulance arrived.

“The paramedics did their best but it was too late to save her.”

Lisa added: “We’re still so shocked by her sudden death.

“At the moment, we are unsure how she died but because of the chest pain, we believe it could have been a heart attack despite her post-mortem coming back inconclusive.”

Lisa said the family want to give Vicky the best send-off possible to remember a “life and soul of the party”.

“With Vicky’s death coming so suddenly, the family hadn’t prepared at all for a funeral,” she said.

“We are struggling to get the funds together and that is why we need your help.

“Vicky was a very nice person with a big personality.

“She was the life and soul of any party.

“Her kids doted on her and I always thought she was a brilliant mum.

“The family always received so much support from her because she knew the value of family and togetherness.

“Her dedication to family shouldn’t be underestimated.

“Vicky’s mum is shattered by her daughter’s death.

“We are going to miss her so much.”
