Angela sets herself a high altitude charity challenge
A WOMAN who suffered a bleed on the brain is hoping to raise cash for a charity by reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Paramedic Angela Ord (44), of Maryhill Close in Treeton, will scale the Tanzanian peak in February and aims to raise at least £3,700.

She is already in training by doing lots of walking and will be heading off to Mount Snowdon in Wales next month.
Angela’s father collapsed suddenly and died after suffering a bleed on the brain when she was eight, and she herself suffered a bleed when she was 33 although tests showed it was coincidental rather than hereditary.
Angela said that the challenge of getting to the summit of Kilimanjaro was too tempting for her to say no.

Angela said she hoped her efforts would show people who have suffered from brain injuries, especially young people, that they can still achieve.
She said that her big adventure has the blessing of her 16-year-old son, Toby, and will jet off to Africa on February 18.
Angela said: “I am excited about it. There will be a bit of apprehension as the time gets near.

More recently, Angela appeared on BBC TV show Right on the Money which shows people how to save cash. She asked for mortgage advice and managed to save £38,000 over two years.
Mount Kilimanjaro has three volcanic cones and rises 4,900 metres (16,000 feet) from its base to 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level.
