All go for Nando’s in Parkgate

PLANNERS have passed an application by Nando’s to build a new restaurant at Parkgate Shopping.

The retail park’s Pizza Hut will be demolished to make way for the 372 sq m flame-grilled chicken outlet and an adjacent Subway sandwich outlet, covering 93 square metres.

New toilet facilities and a cash machine will also be part of the new development.

The Nando's application was approved by planners without being taken to the planning board.

The officer’s report stated that the further development of Parkgate “prejudices the vitality and viability of the town centre and future investment”, but added: “No evidence exists to demonstrate that the proposed development would have a significant adverse effect on the town centre.”
