Air ambulance called following collision

POLICE have re-opened a busy stretch of road after a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

Officers closed of a stretch of Doncaster Road, in Mexborough, following the incident which happened shortly after midday today.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called and landed in a nearby grassed area as medics offered help to a male pedestrian at the scene.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that a grey Vauxhall Vectra had been involved in the collision but was unable to offer any other information.

Doncaster Road was re-opened at around 1.20pm.
