Acorn shifts one million items to new distribution HQ

DISTRIBUTION company Acorn is hoping to sow the seeds of new growth by moving into a new £1.25 million base in Rotherham.

The business is starting the new year in a new home after shifting a million items from three units in Masbrough to its new distribution centre in Hellaby.

The growing company is one of the largest power transmission distributors in the country and supplies bearings, power transmissions and linear systems to a global customer base.

It has now taken on the former Optare site after a £700,000 injection of funding from Barclays.

This enabled Acorn to purchase the new 40,000 sq ft premises, which is twice the size of the previous units combined.

Des Spillings, sales director at Acorn, praised staff for their efforts during the move, saying: “It has been an enormous undertaking to move premises, but it is with thanks to our dedicated workforce, who sacrificed their holidays and worked tirelessly through the Christmas period, that we were able to complete the move in such a short space of time.”
