Rotherham Council approves housing plans on former Oaks day centre site

ROTHERHAM Council has approved plans for 29 homes on the site where it closed down the Oaks day centre.

The Oak Road facility in Wath had supported adults with learning disabilities for several decades until the building was closed in 2018.

RMBC sold off the land after the centre was demolished three years ago.

The council’s planning board approved Hoober Homes’ application for housing at last Thursday’s meeting.

There had been eight objections from residents, who raised concerns including increased traffic and there being too many properties on the site.

A Section 106 agreement will require the developer to allocate seven affordable properties and provide £56,091 towards education in Wath and £14,500 to promote sustainable transport.
