Experts' five top tips to slash your energy bills
The Energy Saving Trust, Citizens Advice and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy have teamed up to encourage people to save cash and fuel by following these five tips:
1. Change your bulbs
If you're still using old halogen bulbs, you’re costing yourself money for no reason.

Hide AdSwitching to LED bulbs will save you around £35 per year — and if everyone in Yorkshire and Humber did it, the collective saving is £18 million.
2. Cool down a bit
If you can comfortably turn down your thermostat by just one degree you’d save £80 per year. Yorkshire and Humber would save £68 million.
3. Switch off
Despite this being one of the easiest savings possible, people are still leaving things on standby. Cut your reliance on the red light and save £30 every year.
The Yorkshire and Humber would save £52 million if we all took control.
4. Don't splash out
