Lights return to help children’s hospice

A DEARNE Valley garden packed with Christmas lights and decorations is proving a festive hit once again — bringing in cash for a children’s charity.

Patrick Thompson and partner Jamie Wright, of Ringway, Bolton on Dearne, have brought back the winter wonderland which turned out to be so popular last year.

Proceeds are going to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice from the display, which features inflatables, a Santa sleigh, a “bigger, better” Coca Cola truck and a Thomas the Tank Engine model for children to sit in.

It has already brought in more than £300 for the hospice, which Patrick has now banked, and the couple hope to break the £1,000 barrier by the end of the month.

Patrick said the steep electricity bill was “our donation” but he “wouldn’t be averse” to averse to the idea of any business sponsoring the energy costs.

You can see the lights and decorations in their full glory  from 4.15pm to 9.30pm every night until New Year’s Day.
