Bluebell Wood’s festive feast of colour

The annual light display at a Swinton bungalow is down to the hard work of the Smith family.
Each year they invite visitors to come and enjoy the scene — and leave a donation in the strongbox for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

This year, the family would like to raise ten times that.
Martin Smith (74), of Rockingham Road, said: “There are a few new lights this year — one with Santa on his sleigh and reindeer.
“The fence has some extra lights on, with a church and some reindeer.”
Martin had help building the garden winter wonderland from grandson Edward East (20).

“Even the donation box has lights on now, so you can’t miss it.”
Cash donations can be posted into the sturdy safe on the garden steps, or through the bungalow’s letterbox.
