IF you are experiencing problems with your mental health, then there are plenty of opportunities to get help and support across the area.

Asking for help can be a big step but there are plenty of people who are waiting to give the right advice and back-up.

Perhaps you are feeling down and depressed, have an addiction issue, or are desperate to know how to care for someone with dementia — hope is out there.

You can access services via your GP or the NHS, through the council or charities where information is always available.

You can find out more via your local library or on the internet. You can also keep an eye on the Rotherham Advertiser where details of special events and group activities are presented each week.

It is always good to talk about your problems and getting help will mean that mental health issues can be addressed and dealt with effectively.

You are not alone.

Talking about your feelings and asking for help is part of taking charge of your wellbeing and doing what you can to stay healthy.

Family and friends can be a vital source of support and reaching out can be a real benefit.

Charities such as Mind or the Samaritans are just two examples of great organisations that can give you help, but medical experts are also on hand if needed.

It is also important to watch out for others and make sure people you know are not suffering in silence.

We should all take mental health seriously.
