Whiston Heritage Society
The website at www.whiston-heritage-society.co.uk gives information about the society and its publications, as well as information about aspects of the history of the village. There is an opportunity to contact the group with information about the past in Whiston and to ask questions about the village. The group welcomed a small number of visitors to the Barn opening event last Wednesday. One of the visitors brought along a coin he had dug up in his allotment - this proved to be a Parys Mine Trade token from Wales made in 1787. Next meeting October 1, Mr Savage will talk about the road between Canklow and the Brecks. Calendars are still on sale £3 each from the Whiston correspondent.

We want to continue holding local authorities to account, attending court and council meetings, as well as providing breaking news, competitions and offers – but it costs money. Online advertising does not cover costs, therefore we feel the need to ask for your help in ensuring we can provide the best possible coverage, online and in our printed products.
For as little as £1, you can support the Rotherham Advertiser – and it only takes a minute.
