KIVETON PARK INDEPENDENT ADVICE CENTRE: A drop-in session, with no appointment necessary, will be held on Tuesday 4-6pm at Wickersley Library. To contact (office hours) 01909 773966.

SURGERY TIMES: Cllr John Turner, who represents the Hellaby ward on Rotherham Council, holds a surgery at Wickersley Library and Community Centre, Bawtry Road, on the first Tuesday of each month 5.30-6.30pm.

WICKERSLEY CI BOWLING CLUB: The Joe Cooke Memorial Trophy meeting was held at the club on Morthen Road on September 6. It was a mixed doubles competition and 16 members took part. There were two groups, and each couple played 4 games of 10 ends. The winning couple from each group played each other. Pat Burton and Gary Bellamy played Vera Hilbert and John Fisher, and after 12 ends Pat and Gary were the winners. The next club competition, the Hasnip Shield which is a Men’'s Singles knockout competition, will be held on Sunday.

WICKERSLEY METHODIST WIVES: Held their 50th anniversary service on September 6 when the service was taken by a former minister Rev Geoff Reid. The Wives group choir sang African Alleluia and The Heaven’s Declare the Creator’s Glory. There was a display and a celebratory lunch at the Venus Restaurant, Dinnington. Secretary Irene Hartley presented each member of the group with a certificate to commemorate the 50th anniversary along with a potted history of the group. On September 7 evening the group held its committee meeting followed by a meal at the Earl of Strafford Hotel. There will be no meeting on Monday with the AGM on September 21 7.30pm.
