METHODIST CHURCH: On September 19 2-4pm there is a craft exhibition and afternoon tea at church.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE (AFTERNOON GROUP): The meeting opened with Rona Hudson welcoming 68 members and four visitors. The talk was given by Meryl White entitled Cake from Grandma Abson’s Traditional Baking. This was followed by the business meeting. Future events were received from other WIs and AGM for next year is to be at Brighton. Rona brought some bags and scarves left over from Trish’s Start a Heart fundraising day which made £10K – the 28th defibrillator has now been purchased. Next month it will be a members’ meeting and this is being organised by Marilyn Scarrow with proceeds to the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Marilyn asked members for donations for tombola and cakes. Some items for the women’s refuge organisation were brought to the meeting. The walks group will meet on September 23 from the Elmwood pub. The craft group is meeting on September 21, flowers on September 14 whilst the chantry group is holding its autumn lunch on October 15 at the Dinnington Resource Centre 1pm. The competition was won by Rona Hudson with Jean Davy second. The next meeting is October 1.
