CRAFT GROUP: The members worked on their sewing, crocheting, knitting, on the jewellery table. die cutting, rubber stamping, decoupage and putting general cards together.

ROTHER VALE COMMUNITY BAND: Practise on Saturdays at St Simon and St Jude’s Parish Church 9.30-11am. New members will be provided with a brass instrument and expert tuition for a weekly subscription of £2. Contact Pam 07759 496810, www.rothervalecommunityband.com.

THURCROFT BOWLING CLUB: Meet every Saturday 10.30am-noon with bowling instruction. Monday – men’s A and B teams 6pm. Tuesday – lady vets 2pm, men’s A and B team 6pm.

THURCROFT LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY: The society is now a free online history site. Contact Thurcroft Library 01709  546150 or call in at School Road.

THURCROFT LIBRARY: Every week get expert help on how to get into work. Sessions cover CV writing, applying for jobs online, apprenticeships and interview techniques. Experts on hand. Free access to computers and internet 10am-12.30pm. Free six week course for computer classes on Tuesday mornings – free but booking essential 01709 546150. Children’s Section – pop-in sessions for Rhyme Time, children to 5, Tuesdays 2-2.45pm. First Monday of month – Chatterbooks Mondays 3.30-4.30pm, except during school holidays.

THURCROFT COLLIERY AND VILLAGE WEBSITE: Jeff Fowkes has sent some photos of Thurcroft Cowboys U18 football team from the 1954/55 season. A few names have been provided including Harry Garbutt, R Sedon, D Bartholomew, J Light, Mr Herdman, G Bell, B Ashmore and Jeff Fowkes. Other names are still wanted. THURCROFT INDOOR BOWLS: Meet at Gordon Bennett Memorial Hall on Sunday and Tuesday 6.30pm to practise and compete at this and other venues during the week.

THURCROFT WALK AND TALK: Had a five mile walk on Wednesday from the Red Lion Hotel, Todwick.

ST SIMON AND ST JUDE’S PARISH CHURCH: The next car boot sale is on October 3 9am, price per car/table £6. The Harvest Supper was last Friday and included a raffle with proceeds going to the Air Ambulance.

THURCROFT WELFARE BAND: September 26 – St Simon and St Jude’s Parish Church, Thurcroft 7pm, an evening of brass band and jazz music with the Doncaster Youth Jazz Association’s Doncaster Youth Stageband. Thurcroft Band practises   Tuesday and Thursday 7.15pm and Training Band on Saturday mornings, both at the Band Room at the top of West Street.
