THURCROFT CRIME AND COMMUNITY SAFETY FORUM MEETING: Held in the Gordon Bennett Memorial Hall on February 16. It was reported that wardens have recently visited John, Peter and Charles Street which are in a bad state again. Regarding the Queen’s 90th birthday, Streetpride has put John, Peter and Charles Street forward for a sweep clean. The clean-up will take place over a weekend, date to be confirmed. It was stated that Thurcroft Parish Council and Big Local would be welcome to take part in a litter pick when the clean-up takes place. Thurcroft Big Local Gala will be taking place over the weekend of July 30-31. Issues have been reported to Streetpride regarding the green bins, but were not sure if the bins in the middle and back yards were the existing ones or new bins. It was stated that they would fetch the equipment in to remove the contaminated bins. Suggestions were made that it may be a good idea to knock on some doors to raise awareness of what they can and can’t put in green bins. Questions were asked if there were any changes planned with regards to green bins as they have been taken away in Swinton?: To contact Streetpride to find out if there are any proposals to change green bin collections. It was reported that Environmental Health was still looking into the legislation regarding safety hazards around the caravan parked in the garden of a property on Katherine Road. Katherine Road: to contact Thurcroft Youth Club to see if the young people would be interested in taking part in a litter pick. The landowner has agreed to pay for a skip and would make a large donation to the youth club. It was agreed that the litter pick would take place in warmer weather. The PCSO is hoping to attend Thurcroft Parish Council meeting on March 31 to give an update on local policing. All officers are now based at Maltby Police Station and will become one big team from April 4. PCSO will be covering Thurcroft, Brampton, Ulley and Brookhouse but will also cover other areas if resources are required. The current PACT area is Thurcroft Pit Top. He asked for residents to continue reporting any issues through the 101 number. It was asked if an inspector or representative would be attending the meeting on February 22 with the owners of Thurcroft pit top side. It was felt an officer with authority was required to attend. This meeting has been arranged to try and address some of the issues around off-road motorbikes and quads on the pit top. PCSO confirmed he would be attending the meeting and will find out which officer is available to attend. It was suggested that it would be a good idea to do some publicity around motorbike legislation and prosecutions that have taken place to deter people bringing off-road bikes onto the site. Thurcroft Play Area (Section 106) – a meeting will take place on February 17 with Daniel Stowkes from WCCTV, and bringing equipment and cameras along for the meeting to look at in the Gordon Bennett Memorial Hall. New Facebook Page: the group was made aware of Thurcroft Crime Awareness facebook account which currently has 779 members. There is also a similar site for Maltby which is successful in raising awareness of various issues in their area. Future Meetings: the group agreed it would like to continue with Thurcroft Crime and Safety meetings and meet every three months. The next Crime and Safety meeting will take place on May 10 2pm in the Gordon Bennett Memorial Hall.
