ST BEDE’S CHURCH: On August 15 9.30am mass was celebrated by Mgr Ryan. Fr Jerezy Prucnal celebrated the 11.15am mass. Mgr Ryan celebrated the 6.15pm mass. Masses during the week were said for Margaret McNeela, Mary Chapman, Julianna Musa, the requiem of Margaret Ollerenshaw, people of the parish, and Eileen Brogan whose requiem service is later today 3.30pm. The National Dowry of Mary pilgrimage in honour of Our Lady of Walsingham will take place on September 6 led by Bishop Alan Hopes, Bishop of East Anglia. Parishioners are reminded that if they are taxpayers they can gift aid their donation to the church.

 

ST PAUL’S CHURCH: Family communion on August 16 was officiated by Rev Charles Grice. Donations to the Shiloh charity were collected in lenten boxes. During the service, a cheque for £100 was presented by Ann Brown, St Paul’s churchwarden, to John McDonnell of Shiloh. Family communion will be celebrated Sunday 10.30am with Rev Charles Grice officiating. Holy communion will be celebrated Wednesday 11am with Rev Charles Grice officiating. There is a box in church for donations of tinned food, biscuits, perfumes etc for The Shiloh Project. Soup and roll lunches on alternate Wednesdays are suspended until mid-September. August 27 – organ recital in church 7pm, organist Elliott Walker, tickets £3, if anyone has a request for a particular piece they should contact St Paul’s ASAP. August 29 – Grand Jumble Fair 11am. A visit to Wentworth Woodhouse stately home is being arranged in mid-October, cost £15, contact churchwardens. Harvest supper with bingo is being arranged for October, more details to follow. The Rotherham Local History Society will meet at St Paul’s on September 19 10.30am, subject Listed Buildings in Rotherham £2. The society meets each month, annual subscription £12. August 29 – Grand Jumble Fair 11am. A visit to Wentworth Woodhouse stately home is being arranged for mid-October at a cost of £15, contact churchwardens. October 3 – harvest supper with bingo 7pm, tickets £5.

 

MASBROUGH HERITAGE SOCIETY: The next meeting is on September 1 7.30pm at Mario’s Trattoria on Kimberworth Road.

 

MASBROUGH AND THORNHILL COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION: Bingo in the community hall on College Road Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday 6-8pm. The Bingo Club is taking a trip to Bridlington in September.
