ST BEDE’S CHURCH: The Crossroads Mission Finale will take place in All Saints’ Square on September 13 4pm. This final event of the Crossroads Mission, when 22 bishops and their teams from across the north of England are coming to engage in evangelism right across Sheffield Diocese, will be in Rotherham. The Archbishop of York, John Sentamu, will be the main speaker. September 17 – Open Minds Theatre Company will host a concert by Berakah in the Old Market Gallery as part of the group’s 10th anniversary tour. Christian Aid has announced that over the Christmas and New Year extended period of 2014-2015 £3.6 million was raised nationally. The government match-funded this amount so that Christian Aid received £7.2 million. At the Rotherham Big Carol Sing in December the £303 raised was also match-funded, to make £606. Local Christian Aid organiser Sylvia Jordan will soon be announcing the dates of the collection at Morrisons Parkgate. She will be looking for volunteer collectors. The luncheon club met in the week and this Sunday is St Bede’s turn for the Sunday night cafe. The deanery quiz will take place on September 11 in the parish rooms at 7.30pm.

ST PAUL’S CHURCH: August 27 – Elliott Walker provided an evening of organ and piano music with a varied programme that included Bohemian Rhapsody, Glenn Miller, classical and patriotic pieces. Family communion was celebrated on August 30 with Rev Charles Grice officiating. Following the service, Mason Hall was baptised by Rev Grice. Family communion will be celebrated Sunday with Rev Charles Grice officiating. Soup and roll lunches on alternate Wednesdays are now suspended until mid-September. September 19 – Rotherham Local History Society meets at St Paul’s 10.30am, subject Listed Buildings in Rotherham £2. A visit to Wentworth Woodhouse stately home is being organised for mid-October £15, contact churchwardens. October 3 – harvest supper with bingo 7pm, cost £5, tickets now available, contact churchwardens.
