ST BEDE’S CHURCH: Daffodils were given out after each Mass for Mother’s Day. Mgr Ryan celebrated the 9.30am and 6.15pm Masses and Fr Cezary Karaczkowski celebrated Mass in Polish at 11.15am. Masses during the week were celebrated for John and Elizabeth Hogan, people of the parish, Kate Chapman and the deceased of the parish. The social and fundraising group met in the week. On March 18 7pm there will be Stations of the Cross Liturgy for the Year of Mercy, all are invited to reflect on the Passion of Christ and to follow the way of the Cross through scripture, music and art in preparation for Holy Week. Students from St Bernard’s Catholic High School will present Born For This on March 23, a moving representation of the Stations of the Cross 6pm. New memorial tiles were erected in the Baptistery during the week. St Wilfred’s Centre charity night is on April 22 at the Platinum Suite, Bramall Lane. This event is to raise funds for the homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded.

 

ST PAUL’S CHURCH: Family Communion was celebrated on March 6 with Rev Charles Grice officiating. Family Communion will be celebrated on Sunday 10.30am with Rev Charles Grice officiating. Holy Communion will be celebrated on Wednesday 11am, Rev Charles Grice officiating, followed by Lunch Club. Lent services – Stations of The Cross March 18 7pm, Maundy Thursday on March 24 7pm, Good Friday March 25 7pm. St Paul’s has a website with details of services, events and other information. Access via A Church Near You and postcode S61 1AH. The Rotherham Local History Society will meet at St Paul’s on March 19 10.30am. Winthrop Park will be the topic, the speaker Carol Bowser, cost £2. The society meets each month, annual subscription £11. As part of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebration, there will be a thanksgiving service followed by a buffet supper on April 23 6pm, tickets £5.
