KIVETON PARK INDEPENDENT ADVICE CENTRE: A drop-in session, with no appointment necessary, will be held on Tuesday 1.30-3.30pm at the Customer Service Centre, Braithwell Road in Maltby. To contact (office hours) 01909 773966.

 

MALTBY TOWN COUNCIL HORTICULTURAL SHOW WORKING PARTY: The meeting on November 2 was attended by seven members and administrative assistant Rebecca Murphy. It was resolved that the name of the show revert back to Maltby Horticultural Show, which would incorporate the former Grow, Make and Bake. Each class from each section in schedule was discussed to check that all classes were correct and that none had been omitted. Entry fees for the show in 2016 would remain the same at 30p per item. Children’s entries would be free for those aged 16 years or under but only in the Children’s Section. All entries will be accepted on either August 19 6-8pm and/or August 20 8am-10.45am. No late entries will be accepted and judging will commence 11am. The schedule to include an example page of a completed entry form to give people guidance as to how the form should be completed.

BEVAN CRESCENT COMMUNITY CENTRE: The decorating of the centre has had to be delayed but the work starts on March 8. There was a good attendance at the Age UK Over Sixties meeting on March 3 when the group celebrated Keith Stringer’s birthday. Keith Stringer holds a surgery in the centre every Thursday 10am-noon.

 

ST MARY’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL: The school continues with the Lenten fundraising with pupils wearing the colours of the logos of the two chosen charities to benefit. The two charities are the Rotherham Hospice and the Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. Fundraising continues with a sponsored run or walk around the school premises.

 

MALTBY (ROTHER VALLEY) LIONS: The Christmas sleigh runs raised £11,250 to support the local community. The Lions meet 7pm every first and third Monday at the Edward Dunn Centre, Maltby. SURGERY TIMES: Cllr John Turner, who represents the Hellaby ward on Rotherham Council, holds a surgery at Brooklands Club on Rotherham Road, Maltby, on the fourth Tuesday of each month 5.30-6.30pm.
