ASTON-CUM-AUGHTON HISTORY GROUP: The group will be opening the William Layne Reading Room on Aughton Lane, Aston, as part of Heritage Open Days. Their albums of photographs, maps and documents will be available to browse. The room will be open on September 11 6-8pm and on September 12 10am-4pm.
ASTON FOOTPATH WALKERS: The seven mile walk on August 13 was from Fox House to Longshaw, Grouse Inn, Grindleford, Froggatt, Calver and Baslow. On August 18 the local walk was the Stan Rouse Memory Walk from Piper Lane, Aston, to Hardwick Lane, Todwick, Wales, Nickerwood Farm and Aston Ponds. Yesterday’s walk was a circular one from Monsal Head.
