West End stage star Roger Wright helps Lost Chord charity

LION King star Roger Wright has helped give a major cash boost to Rotherham charity Lost Chord.

The West End stage star was the special guest for a concert at Sheffield’s St Marie's Catholic Cathedral, which raised more than £3,000 for the charity that provides vital interactive musical experiences for people living with dementia in care homes and day centres across the region.

The evening also featured performances by Lost Chord professional musicians, including international flautist Clare Langan and pianist Tim Short.

Completing the line up was the choir and orchestra of Sheffield High School, led by Heidi Rolf and Clare Wallis whose daughter Ella Taylor gave an unmissable performance.

“Our professional musicians gave exceptional performances, providing the audience with a real taste of how people with dementia in their community benefit from the work of Lost Chord,” said the charity's Chief Executive Helena Muller.

“However, the finale by Roger Wright was quite outstanding and his rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Waters was absolutely electrifying — I'm sure echoed throughout the rafters of the cathedral for days.

“It was the perfect climax to our 15th anniversary celebrations and a memorable launch to what will hopefully be a further 15 years of using great music to enhance the lives of people living with dementia.”
