THE dinosaurs are coming!

Thurnscoe is preparing for its own special D-Day, as a host of prehistoric intruders are set to take over a public park.

Big Local Thurnscoe is hosting the Dinosaur Day in Phoenix Park on Sunday from noon to 4pm, with a giant animatronic T-Rex stomping around the park expected to be the biggest attraction.

There will also be baby dinosaurs, an alpaca enclosure, donkey rides and reptiles to handle, while a dog show from 12.15pm onwards will allow the village’s prized pooches to strut their stuff in a battle for rosettes and dog treats.

Big Local Thurnscoe development worker Alison Vint said: “We are really excited to be hosting a Dinosaur Day in Phoenix Park where native species will be joined by a number of more exotic animal friends — including the last few dinosaurs in the country.

“All animal lovers will have a fantastic day out, and there will be plenty of family friendly activities to take part in such as a climbing wall, dinosaur crafts and even a mini excavation pit.

“We will be launching a brand new family walk leaflet that we have produced in association with Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership, and there will be plenty of food and craft stalls.”

There is no entry charge but anyone planning to attend should note there is no on site parking available.
