Vibes grab the prizes

YOUNG dancers proved that they have all the right moves for success after picking up 20 trophies in a single tournament.

The Street Vibes group, which has been running for three years, danced off with a sackful of prizes at a competition run by the Association of Dance and Freestyle Professionals.

Delighted dance teacher Emma Alderson said: “We’re certainly starting to see the fruits of all our hard work.

“We had prizes spread right across all the age groups.”

Street Vibes, which meets at Conisbrough’s Ivanhoe Centre from 5.15pm to 6.15pm on Monday and Thursday evenings, has more than 100 members aged between five and 30 but Emma said that dancers of all ages and abilities were welcome.

“We do an annual show in December and competitions throughout the year,” she added.

The ADFP tournament, at Halesowen in the West Midlands, involved a dozen dance schools from around the country.

“For some of our members, this was the first tournament so winning this many trophies is really good, especially for a school like ours which has only been running for three years,” Emma said.

“We’re now going to see what competitions we can go in for next year.”
